Mental Health is a topic dear to my heart both from personal experience and from observing our society. I feel like we are just starting to treat mental health with the degree of importance it deserves but think it requires a great deal more of respect from our community.
Recent and brave pronunciations from model athletes are giving mental health a greater perspective to the world in many ways similar to the social cries from movements like Black Lives Matter. Perhaps the voices of Naomi Osaka, Simone Biles and [] will grow similarly to demand society pay attention to these long neglected issues.
My own challenges with mental health...
I am a fighter and I won't declare this fight over. It is a constant battle that requires diligence and perseverance. The COVID sequestration showed me this. But my mental health is more important than any Olympic Medal or grade. I know that despite the depths of stress and chains of depression that I can acquire and achieve the knowledge I need and crave. My achievements on the AP Exams demonstrated that despite my struggles with work during my depression I could overcome that lost time and achieve knowledge.
